The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Robert Hill can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Margaret Barker
Condolence: Dear Hill Family, I just learned of Dr. Hill's passing. I was his student from 1977 - 1981. I cannot express my sorrow at this loss. I once wrote him that "without resort to hyperbole" he was the best teacher I ever had. He loved that line. I saw him last around four years ago and I delighted in his company, as always. I was honored to know him.

Condolence: Amy, sorry to hear of your father's passing. I last ran into him when I visited Marietta during my 25th reunion. Always loved his sense of humor and intelligence.

I'd love to get in touch with you.

Condolence: Dear Judy, I was very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Both my husband Jim and I enjoyed seeing you two at ILR. Also, I used to sing the Messiah when Bob did as well. I feel the hole that both of you have left in the Marietta community. My sincerest condolences,
Clarice

Condolence: Dear Mrs. Hill,

I was saddened to learn of your husband's death. Please, accept the sincere condolences of both my wife and myself. May your enduring memories of a lifetime spent together lessen the pain of this loss. I, myself, highly respected Professor Hill as a colleague and was always pleased to be on a committee with him. How I enjoyed comments: presented with contemplative hesitance but in decidedly clear and precise words, along with with his characteristic gentle smile. He was truly unique, and I shall always cherish the memory of him.

Condolence: Dr. Hill taught the very first class I took at Marietta College. He was always a kind and friendly individual, and I looked forward to seeing and talking with him and his lovely wife, Judy, on their walks around Marietta; and during the rehearsals and performances of the college - community chorus, and at the First Presbyterian Church.
He was kind, and generous with praise to my late mother, Virginia D, Stocks, when they both served the M.C. Faculty Council. My thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Hill's family at this sad and difficult time. He will be sorely missed.

Condolence: To all of Dr. Hill's family: He was a memorable man who was scholarly and concerned about his students and his beloved Marietta. I enjoyed a number of chance conversations over the years after I was at Marietta College during his and Judy's frequent walks about town. He will be missed fondly.

Condolence: Dr. Hill was my advisor, professor, and friend. Jan and I enjoyed a number of visits as we passed through Marietta. Our conversations were stimulating; they were always a learning experience for me. I have thought of him and Judy any times. Jan and I want to express our best to Judy and the entire Hill Family. Dr. Hill was a light in my life which will never be extinguished. Jan and Rex

Condolence: To Dr. Hill's Family,
I arrived as a student at Marietta College the same year Dr. Hill arrived. He was my professor in five different courses. I found him to be very kind and professional at all times. After graduation I left Marietta only to come back eleven years later. I often saw Dr. Hill walking tall from campus to his home in Harmar. Whenever I saw him, it brought back memories of my time at Marietta College. I'm so thankful that he was part of my life experience.
