The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Martha Kestermeier can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Patrick Lin
Condolence: Ms. Kestermeier's class was a major reason why I majored in biology (before I found the dark arts of philosophy) and why I still work in the sciences. Her obvious love for the subject and for teaching made her a good teacher; but she also (rightly) expected a lot of her students, pushing us harder than we thought we were capable of. That's what made her a great teacher. Looking back, she was maybe one the greatest teachers I've ever known. Thank you, Ms. K.

Condolence: She was one of my most memorable teachers. I learned so much from her and became a teacher. Her no nonsense attitude was amazing and yet she would display her sense of humor at moments which were fantastic. She will be greatly missed.

Condolence: Upon hearing the news of Ms. Kestermeier's death, there are 100s of former students of hers from Langley High School in McLean, VA who are paying tribute to her on our Langley HS alumni Facebook page...

Our sentiments are all pretty similar: Though Mrs Kestermeier was strict and sometimes terrifying, I learned a lot from her. I loved her as well! I'll never forget the experience of dissecting a fetal pig in her class! She was a good woman, and certainly lived a long life. May she Rest In Peace.

Condolence: Ms. Kestermeier was possibly one of my favorite high school teachers (Langley, biology). She was tough and scary but she was super smart and soft inside. I learned a lot and remember her very fondly. I am sorry for your loss.

Condolence: My condolences to Mary and the rest of her family on the death of Martha. I remember both of Martha's parents. I especially remember Uncle Albert and how kind he was to me. May Martha be quickly welcomed into the Heavenly Kingdom.

Condolence From: Michael
Condolence: Dear Kestermeier family. I am so sorry to have read of the death of Martha. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4. These verses tell us that soon God is going to bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones as well as do away with all causes we have for suffering, including sickness and death. Knowing this has always comforted me and it is my hope that these thoughts will comfort your family also.
