As you know Ray spent several summers with Southwestern Book Company and had the privilege of working with him in the summer of 90' I was in the middle of Texas and was several weeks into working one of the hardest jobs I have ever taken on and was on the verge of quiting when I met Ray and Dave Gator Drayton These two guys were veterans (It was my rookie summer). Ray was a selling maverick with a work ethic, attitude and integrity that greatly influenced my approach on life to this day. He also treated everyday like an adventure and admired his pursuit of his passion for extreme sports as he always appeared to be a caged animal when not riding a bike, board or uncharted course. In completing the summer selling in Texas I bought a redline hybrid mountain bike (Ray actually helped pick it out) to get around campus, also graduated OSU, and Ray stopped by to show me a few tricks however he never showed my how to straighten out the rims as he bent both of them performing wheelies and hops thanks buddy I actually still have the bike and still cant do 99% of the tricks. Im honored to know Ray and will always cherish those memories - Peace |

I just recently met Ray before the Colorado National he sent my daughter some GO Pro stuff for MX and we tried to hook up and ride before the race. We couldn't get together but he made a point to come over at the races and talk to me, we talked for a really long time and he just showed such passion for the sport and for the riders, he was such a great guy. The only thing he said to me (about 50 times) is "What's you name?" He was probably around three years old. Over the years our families became good friends (especially our fathers) and I was the babysitter (there are plently of Russ, Ray and Debra Kay stories there too, another time.) until I moved away. But over the years I would hear Jake tell my dad stories about having ramps built for Rays' bikes and the things Ray could do on a bike with a ramp. I originally met Carl on 12/23/87 by stopping in to introduce myself at the old location of Caron on Products Lane. Carl immediately made me feel comfortable with his huge smile and hospitality. He always made a point to say hello and take a few minutes to talk about life outside of work, especially his daughters and the various activities they were involved with.
