Alan Russell Harris, 60, of Vincent, died Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born April 4, 1951 in Marietta to Marvin J. and Beryl Wheeler Harris. He was a 1969 graduate of Fort Frye High School and a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. Alan retired from UPS in May of 2008, following 30 years of employment and prior to that he had worked at Ohio Power. He attended Barlow Vincent Church of Christ and had been a long time member of Lowell Christian Church where he had served as an Elder. He was currently serving his second term as Barlow Township Trustee and was president of the Scenic Hills Lions Club. Also a member of Lowell American Legion, Post #750 and the 40 & 8. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially enjoying his grandchildren. Alan is survived by his wife, Donna Kay Welch McAfee Harris, they were married on April 3, 1998, children, Allison R. Park of Parkersburg, WV, Justin A. Harris of Lowell, Jessica A. Harris of Fairlawn, Joshua A. Harris of Lowell and Adam R. Harris of Rockledge, FL, two step sons, Don McAfee (Jamie) of Vincent and Dwayne McAfee (Angie) of Fleming, eight grandchildren, Christine Wilson, Matthew and C.J. Park, Aidan Harris, April, Brandon, Stephanie, and Derek McAfee, brother, Dave Harris of Lowell and sisters, Linda McMichael of Devola and Karen Hill (Eugene) of Waterford and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jennifer C. Arbogast Harris on October 24, 1996, they had been married on December 23, 1972, and a brother, Byron Douglas Harris. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Pastors Charles Abei and Rob Tuttle officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m., where there will be a Lions service at 7:00 p.m., and on Wednesday for one hour prior to his service.
