Alden Raymond Reed

Alden Raymond Reed, 66, of Lowell, died Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born December 5, 1949 in Sistersville, WV to Laymon and Merle Hess Reed. He was a 1967 graduate of Sistersville High School. Alden was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. He had retired in 2011, following 38 years of employment from Cytec Industries, formerly American Cyanamid, as a chemical operator. Alden enjoyed fishing, baseball and working crossword puzzles. He is survived by his mother of Friendly, WV; son, Jason Reed (Stacy Kidder), of Middlebourne, WV; daughter, Elizabeth Reed, of Marietta; two sisters, Shirley Chapman (David) of Lowell and Bradenton, FL and Lois McPeck (Mike) of Duncan Falls, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Roger. There will be a private graveside burial of his ashes in Archers Chapel Cemetery, Tyler County, WV, with military honors at a later date. The Rev. Don Thomas will officiate. Donations may be made to the Strecker Cancer Center or the L-A Fire & Rescue.
