Aletha Constance "Connie" Gates

Aletha Constance "Connie" Gates, 86, of Barlow, died Friday, January 16, 2009, at Appletree Home in Barlow. She was born August 25, 1922 in Valley Mills, WV to Lester DeVore and Crystal Anderson DeVore Abbott. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Vincent and the Vincent Hobby Club. She enjoyed family, sewing, gardening, and visiting with friends. Connie is survived by four daughters, Drenda Trembly (Donald) of Vincent, Darlene Yost (Don A.) of Barlow, Sharon Williams (Chuck) of Marietta and Tressa "Tess" Knight (Bruce) of Greenwood, IN; a son, Ronald Clinton Gates (Lisa) of Tigard, OK; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Russell of Vincent; a brother, Dale DeVore (Lois) of Veto; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Lee of Marietta; and many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Reg Radabaugh, who was raised in the Gates' home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Clinton Gates on March 27, 1997, they were married on October 6, 1942; an infant brother and a grandson, Robby Williams. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2009, at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will be in Barlow Central Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Connie's family would like to express a special thank you to her Appletree family and friends.
