Alvin R. Dennis, 80, of Barlow, Ohio, formerly of Glouster, Ohio, died on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Appletree Assisted Living in Barlow. He was born on July 8, 1937 in Corning, Ohio to Henry and Mary Holcombe Dennis.
Alvin was a 1955 graduate of Glouster High School and graduated from Hocking College with his accounting degree. He was an accountant for 317 Board in Athens. Alvin served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading and was a member of the Trimble Masons and the Bishopville Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his son, Brian Dennis (Sherri) of Vincent, Ohio; and two grandsons, Jayden and Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Hook Dennis whom he married on September 3, 1965; and his granddaughter, Angel.
Military graveside services will be held at Noon on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Maplewood Cemetery in Glouster. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
