Anna Fischer Montera, 98, a resident of The Arbors, Marietta, Ohio, died Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born April 6, 1918 in Binghamton, NY to Basil and Xenia (Kachovich) Dzebziniak. She grew up in Berwick, Pennsylvania, then moved to NYC at the age of 14 to help support her family in Berwick. She was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fischer of Kew Gardens, NY. Anna married Anthony P. Montera, (EdD, Professor Emeritus, University of Cincinnati), on August 18, 1946 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. They lived in NYC until moving to Mt. Carmel, (Cincinnati) Ohio in 1955. Dr. Montera died on March 14, 2008 at the age of 90. Anna resided in the Mt. Carmel area until 2015 when she moved to The Arbors at Marietta. She was an avid gardener and loving mother and wife. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Montera (Bill Held) of Marietta, her sister Catherine Rado, of Berwick, PA, her brother, Michael Zibnack, of San Jose, CA, two step sisters, Nancy and Helen, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John, on March 11, 2015, a sister, Mary Gutowski, and two brothers, Sam and John. Abiding with her wishes, she will be cremated and there will be private services held in Mt. Carmel at a later date.
