Arthur L. Coffman, 95, of Waterford, died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at his home. He was born June 6, 1917 in Dungannon, Ohio to Clarence and Della Cowell Coffman. He was a 1936 graduate of Beverly High School. Art retired from the Detroit, Michigan Police Department in 1969. Following retirement, he and his wife moved back to Waterford and built their home. He was a member of the Belpre Church of Christ and the Detroit Police Officers Association. Art is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Sawicki (Edward) of St. Clair Shores, MI, two sons, William of Warren, MI, and Kenneth of Traverse City, MI, one granddaughter, Cindy Millns (Glen) of Warren, MI, two grandsons, Kenneth Coffman, Jr. of Racine, WI and Sean Coffman (Tracy) of St. Clair Shores, MI, four great grandsons, Anthony and James Craechioco and Robbie Coffman, and Brandon Milewski. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bryne Coffman in 2008, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2013, at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Ron Laughery officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Belpre Church of Christ, 2932 Washington Blvd., Belpre, OH 45714.
