Barbara S. McCarty, 83, of Lowell, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 3, 2024 at her home.She was born on March 28, 1941 in Hamilton, OH to the late Charles M. and Martha H. Burer.
She graduated from Lower Salem High School after moving to Warner, OH in 1954. On September 2, 1961 she married David L McCarty. Together they owned McCarty Trucking in Lowell. She was employed by Middleton Dolls for many years and doll collecting was her passion.
Barbara was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest accomplishments were being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was dedicated to her Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Mercy in Lowell. Spending time with her family always put a smile on her face and her years of playing softball was always a very fond memory of hers.
She is survived by her children; Terry (Tina) McCarty, of Lower Salem, Timothy McCarty of Parkersburg and Barbette McCarty of Lowell, six grandchildren; Josh (Kristen) Schultheis of Marietta, Andrew McCarty of Columbus, Christian (Keasey) McCarty of Lowell, Hannah and Emma McCarty of Columbus, Kylie McCarty of Parkersburg, great-granddaughters; Aurora and Aviana McCarty of Lowell, siblings; Lawrence (Barbara) Burer of Lower Salem and Carol Binegar of St. Mary’s and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Charles V. Burer.
Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11:00a.m. with Rev. David Gaydosik as celebrant. A dinner will be held afterwards at the Our Lady of Mercy Reception Hall. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
