Bernard Leo "Buz" Thieman, 81, of Waterford, died Monday, June 27, 2016, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born May 5, 1935 in Churchtown to Wilford and Mary Huck Thieman. Buz retired in 1995 from ODOT as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Good Sam Camping Club and Country Roads T&A Car Club. He enjoyed restoring old cars, camping and working in his shop. Buz is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou Arnold Thieman; five sons, Gary (Whitney Pettit) of St. Marys, WV, Tim (Mindy), Doug (Kathy), Dan (Sarah) of Churchtown, Greg (Chrissy Littler) of Marietta; two daughters, Christina (Rob) Combs and Jackie (Mike) Clark of Beverly; fourteen grandchildren, Darci and Deidra Combs, Jesse and Justin Zumbro, Travis, Erica, Madison, Graysan, Wesley, Mason, Josh, Brandt, Colton and Devin Thieman; four step grandchildren, Devon Clark, Kylie and Vanessa Nichols and Frank Zumbro; three great grandchildren, Christian and Spencer Thieman and Avery Zumbro; two brothers, Jim (Norma) and Tom (Pat) of Churchtown; two sisters, Betty Strahler of Lowell and Nancy (Eldon) Miller of Marietta and a sister in law, Barbara Thieman of Churchtown. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert, and infant brother, Richard, and a brother in law, Jerry Strahler. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass will be held at St. John Catholic Church on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Virgil Reischman as celebrant. Visitation will be at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 3:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the St. John School Foundation or to Marietta Home Health and Hospice.
