Bert David Goddard, 57, of Marietta, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV. He was born December 9, 1959 in Marietta to B. Dickson and Ethel E. Hoff Goddard. Bert was a sales representative with Scholastic Sports Services. He was a member of the North Parkersburg Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Marietta High School Alumni and Friends Foundation and was a board member of the Marietta High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Bert was a proud graduate of Wendelstedt Umpire School in Daytona Beach, FL and was a big supporter of sporting programs at Marietta High School and Marietta College. He had played with the Doug Hess Big Band for several years. In addition to his mother of Marietta, Bert is survived by two daughters, Kirsten and Eleana Goddard, and their mother, Misty Goddard, all of Marietta, also surviving are cousins, including his special cousin, Connie Ruble, of Newport. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastors Larry Miller and Chad Mugrage officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, WV.
