Betty May Lang Becker, 73, of Marietta, died Monday, January 27, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born July 7, 1940 in Marietta to Lewis J. and Theresa Audrey Arnold Lang. She was a 1958 graduate of Marietta High School. As well as being a homemaker, Betty had worked at The Marietta Times, Marietta Livestock and Hills Department Store. She was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events, as well as enjoying flower and vegetable gardening. Betty is survived by her husband, Frederick Becker, Sr., four children, Janet Becker of Wapakoneta, Barbara Brooker (Myron) of Marietta, Fred Becker, Jr. (Tricia) of Stanleyville and Loretta Parks (Sean) of Marietta, four grandchildren, Nathan and Kyle Weekley, Abby Jo Brooker and Megan Becker, seven brothers and sisters, Lewis R. Lang (Patty) of Marietta, Romona Barrett of Vincent, Bonnie Seyler (John) of Wilmington, NC, Donna Sturm (Ralph) of Marietta, Gale Lang (Sandy) of Marietta, Darlene Seyler (Bill) of Poland, Ohio and Faye Treadway (Dale) of Marietta, sister in law, Frances Tornes (Ralph, Jr.) of Waterford and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Faith Elizabeth Becker, and a brother in law, Jim Barrett. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be celebrated at The Basilica of St. Mary of The Assumption on Friday, January 31, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. With The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Visitation will be at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a Vigil Service at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday and the Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be at Valley Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Warren Township VFD, 17305 St. Rt. 550, Marietta, OH 45750.
