Betty Lou Casto, 78, of Sharon Street, Marietta, was called to heaven at 7:54 a.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at her home. She was born on November 7, 1931 in Lowell, Ohio, to John Foster and Glenna Ceola Bogard Schau. Betty is a graduate of Lowell High School and had nurses training at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg. She was an RN and OB Supervisor at Marietta Memorial Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 1991. Betty is a member of The First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she had served as a Deacon. She was also a member of the N.A.A.C.O.G. and the VFW Auxiliary, Post 5108. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Richard Casto, whom she married on April 22, 1951; three daughters, Rhonda Jo Wittekind (Tim Oliver), Raomi Jean Morris (Steven), and Barbara Lee Casto, all of Marietta; one son, Richard Eugene Casto (Julie) of Marietta; eight grandchildren, Jason, Wesley, Kelly, Brooke, Megan, Sara, Levi and Corey; and 13 great-grandchildren, Cody, Alyssa, Kaylie, Aubrey, Kaira, Ryan, Wade, Sebastian, Daryan, Carleigh, Alisia, Brianna and Breanna; and one sister, Garnet Hose of Marietta. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Lester, Kelly, Johnny, Cecil and Harold Schau. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at The First Congregational United Church of Christ, with The Rev. Linda Steelman officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
