Betty Jean (Rauch) Russell, 74, of Marietta, Ohio, died Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Harmar Place in Marietta. She was born on July 19, 1944 in Churchtown, Ohio, to Leo and Ella Heiss Rauch.
Betty attended the one room school house in Rainbow as a child and was a graduate of Fort Frye High School. She had worked at Kroger for 20 years, retiring in 2008. Betty was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption and the USCW unions. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, Harley riding, flying, cake decorating and spending time in their Model A.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph G. Russell, whom she married on October 30, 1999; son, James L. Clift (Theresa) and their daughter, Casie Atkinson; brother, Paul Rauch (Freda Huck); brother in law, Kelton Fliehman; sister in law, Jane Ann Rauch; many nieces and nephews; four step children, Rene, Robert, Richard and Rhonda Russell; 11 step grandchildren and 12 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Helen Fliehman, Howard Rauch and Francis & Mary Lou Rauch.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Entombment of her ashes will take place at a later time in East Lawn Mausoleum. There will be no visitation. Donations may be made to the Basilica or Hospice.
