Billy Don Smith, 81, of Lowell, Ohio, died, Sunday, February 3, 2019, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on September 13, 1937 in Coal Run, Ohio, to Robert and Doris Cobb Smith.
Bill married Barbara Wolfe Smith on March 5, 1960. He then was called up for active duty for the Berlin Crisis in 1961. Bill had worked as a car salesman in Lowell and was a bus driver for Washington County MRDD. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 750 in Lowell, the Lowell United Methodist Church and the Pioneer 31 camping club. Bill enjoyed watching Ohio State football and basketball, Marietta College and Fort Frye Cadets, enjoyed camping, playing cards and interacting with family, friends and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith, children; Vickie Miller (Scott) of Beverly, Jeff Smith (Amy) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, grandchildren; Carissa Fliehman (Ryan), Brianne Oleksa (Casey), Amanda Naar (Matt), Samantha Smith (Darien Wilcox) and Preston Smith (Cheyenne), great grandchildren; Sawyer, Briar, Henley Fliehman, Enzo Wilcox, Kash and Aiko Chey Smith, Aela Naar and his dog, Hank.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Norman Smith.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, with full military honors.
