Burl Duaine Perry, 65, of Marietta, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was born in Marietta, on July 10, 1947 to Berkley Burl and Dulcie Naomi Newlon Perry. Burl was a U.S. Army veteran, serving our country during the Vietnam war. He worked as a goldsmith for Buttermore & Sons Jewelers in Parkersburg. Burl was a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 5108, a member of the NRA, enjoyed hunting with his sister, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his father, of Lowell; his wife, Helen Marie Moore, whom he married on November 20, 1966; two daughters, Kelly Ryan and Heather Chidester, both of Beverly; four grandchildren, Whitney Clark (Nicholas), Cassie Ryan, and Christina and Chris Ward; a great grandson, NJ Clark; two sisters, Kathy West of Lowell, and Rita Schultheis (Thomas) of Marietta; two brothers, Terry Perry of Lowell, and Eddy Perry (Amy) of Millersburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Teresa Perry. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Dr. Lloyd Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell, with full military honors. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
