Captain Jack Richard Lauck

Captain Jack Richard Lauck, 82, of Williamstown, WV, died peacefully Saturday, July 10, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born December 28, 1927 in Marietta to Ralph H. And Lavina H. Knox Lauck. A sub-mariner, Jack served aboard the USS Becuna SS319 and the USS Boarfish SS327. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He had retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, following 39 years of service. Jack was a member of the Sixth & Washington Streets Church of Christ. He was a Past Worthy Grand Patron of the West Virginia Order of Eastern Star in 1994-1995 and was currently serving as trustee; he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #29 in Williamstown, where he was a 50 year member, also a member of the Williamstown Order of Eastern Star and the Shrine Club. Jack also was a member of the Ohio Valley Gem and Mineral Society and the Pioneer Antique Auto Club. He is survived by his wife, Mary Brookover Lauck, they were married on May 6, 1950; three daughters, Katherine Ernst (John Michael Joseph Ernst, MD) of Charleston, SC, Sharon Armstrong (Dan) of Fairmont, WV and Trina Lauck of Parkersburg, WV; a son, David Samuel Lauck of Williamstown; three grandchildren, Carissa Hammonds (Daniel) of Columbus, Rebecca Fedorko (Evan) and Megan Armstrong, all of Morgantown, WV; three great grandchildren, Danica and Lucas Hammonds and Cormac Fedorko. Jack will sorely be missed by all who knew him, especially by his adoptive family Rob and Missy Holdren, and their children, Colton, Jacob, Carly and Joseph, of Reno. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. On Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at the Sixth & Washington Streets Church of Christ, with Roger Rush officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown, with full military rites observed. Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the Amerdisys Hospice Services, 417 Grand Park Drive, Suite 206, Parkersburg, WV 26105, or in Jack's name to the Navaho Mission Fund, Sixth & Washington Church of Christ, 534 6th St., Marietta, OH 45750.
