Carl Owen Maddox, 87, of St. Rt. 550, Vincent, died Friday, November 20, 2009, in Marietta. He was born September 15, 1922 in Jackson County, WV to George W. and Laura Estella Robins Maddox. He was a graduate of Ravenswood High School and had attended a trade school in Michigan for welding. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and had served on the Battleship USS West Virginia. He had retired as a machinist from Union Carbide Metals. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church. Carl had also been a farmer and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his wife, Edna Ingraham Maddox, whom he married on October 26, 1942, a son, Jerry Maddox (Jennifer) of Vincent, daughter-in-law, Norma Maddox of Vincent, two grandchildren, Zachary Maddox (Allison) of Parkersburg, WV and Danielle Maddox of Vincent, a brother, James Ray Maddox (Betty) of Barlow, three step-grandchildren, Melissa Brookover, Scott Patterson and Lorrie Seevers, and one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Rodney Carl Maddox. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009, at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Chuck Kiser and Dr. A.C. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Barlow Central Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
