Carol May Dewey, 90, of Marietta, Ohio, died Friday, March 25, 2016 in Marietta. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 25, 1925 to Gustav and Florence Gilmore May. Carol lived in Cincinnati until her marriage to Paul H. Dewey in 1951. She graduated from Ward Belmont, a private girl's school in Nashville, Tennessee, and the University of Cincinnati. She was an interior designer, artist and painting instructor. Besides her commercial and residential design company, Carol taught at Washington State Community College in continuing education, Marietta College Institute of Learning and Retirement, Glenwood Retirement Community and the O'Neill Center. Carol was preceded in death by her husband in 1977, and her sisters. She is survived by five children, Paul H. Dewey (Michele), Lynn Dewey, Cynthia Alexander, Marilyn Wenzel (J. Martin), and Janette Chancey (Ed), four grandchildren, Jared Wenzel (Katie), Courtney Wenzel, Carolyn Beacham and Shannon Beacham, and one great grandson, Payton. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Marietta. Burial of her ashes will be in the church garden following the service. The family will greet friends at a reception following services that day, in the church social hall. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or to the O'Neill Senior Center.
