Carol Knoch Wagner

February 18, 1915 — April 29, 2014

Carol Knoch Wagner, age 99, of Lowell, Ohio, passed away on April 29, 2014. She was born on a farm outside of Lowell, a daughter of Edward A. and Loretta Ridgway Knoch. Carol graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1932. She looked forward to attending each alumni banquet and was honored recently for being the oldest graduate in attendance. Carol was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Church of Lowell, and a 55-year member of the Waterford Grange. On September 5, 1934, Carol married Bernard C. Wagner. During their 54 years of marriage they had dairy and truck farms. In her later years, she raised blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries and had customers return year after year to pick. Carol had many talents and hobbies, including quilting, knitting and crocheting, tending to her flower beds, sightseeing, and visiting with friends and family. Family was very important to Carol, and she traced the Knoch and Wagner families back to their roots in England and Germany.
Carol was greatly loved and admired and will be missed by all, especially her seven children: Wayne of Columbus, Lynn (Judy) of Marietta, Neil (Wilma) of Lowell, Thomas (Barbara) of Canal Winchester, Wanda (Doug) Herl of Columbus, Randal (Tammy), and Keith (Sandra) of Lowell; 12 grandchildren: Lance (Katherine) Wagner of Marietta, Eric Wagner of Dalton, GA, Brian (Dayna) Wagner, Kevin (Kenna) Wagner of Lowell, Angela (Kenny) Moore, Tricia Wagner of Canal Winchester, Devon (Richard) Albeit, Erin (Michael) Burk of Columbus, Shane and Kylin Wagner of Lowell, Ashley Wagner (Jeremy Stackpole) of Marietta, and Andrew Wagner of Lowell; three step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 15, 1988, her parents, sister Laverne K. Close, brother and sister-in-law Gale A. and Gene Knoch, and grandson Darin N. Wagner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014, at St. John's Evangelical Church, with Pastor Don Hart officiating. Visitation will be at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to her services on Friday, at the church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Lowell. Donations may be made to the L-A Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 406 or to her church, P.O. Box 303, Lowell, Ohio 45744.
