Chad Daniel Wright

Chad was a 1999 graduate of Marietta High School. He then served for 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Chad worked as a Veterans Service Officer for the Washington County Veterans Service Commission.
Chad was a member of the American Legion Post 64, VFW Post 5108 and the Marine Corps League Sgt. Bob O'Malley Detachment 1436. He served as President and founding member of the Mid-Ohio Valley Veterans Outreach. He was also involved in the Ohio State Association of County Veterans Service Officers where he was the Registration Chair and member of the Board of Directors. Chad loved to hunt, golf and cook. He was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. But most of all he adored his children and wife and loved spending time with them and the rest of his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Tina Simmons; wife, Sarah Whittekind Wright, whom he married on August 20, 2016; three children, Caleb Daniel, Mylee Maurie and Emma Jeanne; brother, Paul Steven Wright (Elia); maternal grandparents, James and Doreen Buchanan; parents in law, David and Jeanne Whittekind; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Frank Steven Lee.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19, safety precautions will be taken, with that in mind, the 6-foot rule will be honored and all guests, whose health allows, are to wear a mask. We prefer that guests with underlying health conditions arrive first from 2-3 p.m. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that visitors do not linger at the funeral home after seeing Chad's family.
Funeral services, with same precautions, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at the funeral home. Full military honors will be observed as well.
