Charles "Charlie" W. Fox

May 19, 1982 — February 18, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Staff Sergeant Charles "Charlie" Fox Jr., AKA. Weasel, Chuck, Little Charlie. Born at Coronado Hospital in San Diego, California, on May 19, 1982, Charlie left us too soon on Feb 18, 2025, peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends. Charlie leaves behind a legacy of love, courage, and perseverance that won't be forgotten. Charlie is survived by his three sons, Hunter, Mason, and Brayden Fox; his father, Charles (Tammy) Fox; his mother, Michelle (Jim) Young; his brother, Joey Fox, and his sister, Tanya (Daniel) Wagner, along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Charlie was predeceased by his brother, Daniel Fox, and his grandparents, Elma Prine-Fox, Betty LeHere, William Fox, and Frank VanGorder and several other loving family members. Remembered as a devoted father, wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend, Charlie was a laid-back, easy-going, and friendly individual. He had a love for country music and enjoyed watching TV shows such as Yellowstone, Tracker, 1883, 1923, and the Golf Channel. He was also a passionate fan of THE Ohio State Buckeyes, and his unwavering support for the team was something he proudly shared with everyone. He loved spending time with his family, whether it was in the garage with his Dad (The Dude), playing darts, pool, horseshoes, cornhole, fishing, golfing, camping, or attending the NWTF events and banquets with his cousin, who was like a brother, Dave Fox. Charlie had a taste for cubed steak, fried green beans, chicken fingers, scalloped potatoes, bean burritos, and homemade tomato mac & cheese, which he often enjoyed with Dr. Pepper or Bud Light. After graduating from Warren High School, in Vincent, Ohio in 2000, Charlie joined the United States Army where he was deployed twice to IRAQ, once in 2005 and again in 2006. During his time in the military, Charlie earned multiple awards and decorations, including: the coveted Combat Action Badge, six Army Commendation Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star. In 2021, he began his new career at State Line Construction, where he instantly felt like family from the Bagley's. Charlie’s life positively impacted those around the world. His love for his family and country were unmatched. His greatest accomplishments were raising three wonderful boys, serving the country that he loved, and producing the highest quality of work and craftsmanship. His humor will continue to resonate with us, especially his words to his Dad, "quit bird-dogging me." Viewings for Charlie will be held on Monday, Feb 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Tuesday, Feb 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home in Barlow, Ohio. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Feb 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the same location, followed by a burial service at Barlow Central Cemetery at 12:00 PM. The dress code is casual, military personnel and retirees are encouraged to wear their uniform. There will be a meal provided by the Lighthouse Baptist Church at 1:00 PM, all family and friends are welcome. Charlie remained selfless even after life. As an organ donor, Charlie's gift will allow the blind to see, and the sick to heal. He has always helped others in need, and this was his final gift, his final deed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the "Help Honor Charlie’s Memory and his Children" fund at https://everloved.com/life-of/charles-william-fox/donate/. Let us honor Charlie's memory by reflecting on the love and joy he brought to his family, his friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his life. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire Camden Clark Cardiovascular ICU team and all emergency responders for taking care of Charlie leading up to his final moments, and all of the family and friends that have reached out and provided meals and comfort to the family during this incredibly difficult time.
