Charles Eugene "Gene" Hall, 66, Ferncliff Drive, Marietta, died Monday evening, August 31, 2009, at his home. Born February 21, 1943, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Tivis Eugene and Ola Faye Farmer Hall. Gene had retired in January of this year, as a regional manager for Eastern Steel, following more than 25 years of employment. He was a member of Ironworkers Local #787. He had served in the National Guard, was a member of the Shrine Club and was a 32nd Degree Mason, in the Macksburg Masonic Lodge. Gene loved his time spent at the Marietta Boat Club, where he was an active member and was currently holding the office of Rear Commodore. Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Leistner Hall, whom he married May 10, 1966, and one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Brenda Hall, of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Patricia L. Peoples officiating. Gene's family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
