Charles Kyle Gains
March 16, 1951 — August 10, 2019
Charles was a 1969 graduate of Marietta High School. He retired in 2015 from First Congregational United Church of Christ, previously was employed at Franklin Fire Equipment for 19 years and Washington County Career Center.
Charles was a member of many Masonic bodies, including, The Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Marietta Commandery #50, where he received Knights Templar Cross of Honor in October of 2016, Harmar Lodge #390, American Union #1, and Marietta Chapter 59, Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of the First Congregational Church and past member of the Warren VFD, for 15 years. Charles enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and loved painting and flowers.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Fox Gains, whom he married on June 5, 1971; children, Barry Gains (Kayla) and Mindy Worstell (Brett); grandchildren, Katie Anderson (Alex), Kyle Worstell, Keith Worstell, Kassiday Kincaid (Austin), Lily Mae Gains and Brady Gains; great grandsons, Jacob Anderson and Jackson Charles Anderson; siblings, Darlene Powers, Steven Gains; mother in law, Georgia Fox; sisters in law, Sarah Gains and Patsy Schaad (Michael); and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Gains; father in law, Jack Fox; sister in law, Jackie Arnold; and brothers in law, Larry Arnold and James Fox, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at The First Congregational Church, with The Rev. Linda Steelman officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawely & Peoples Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Masonic services will be held on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
