Charles Francis "Charlie" Kern, 64, of Marietta, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at his home. He was born February 21, 1949 in Marietta to Peter and Edna Walter Kern. He was a 1967 graduate of Warren High School and a 1971 graduate of Marietta College. Charlie had worked as a Production Supervisor and in Product Development for Johns Manville in Vienna, WV. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling with the grandchildren. Charlie is survived by his wife, Barbara Miller Kern, they were married on May 15, 1970, also survived by two children, Minda Richards (Larry) of Lowell and Russ Kern (Janine) of Little Hocking, four grandchildren, Allyssa and Mason Kern and Emma and Jonathan Richards, brother in law, James Miller, of Marietta and sister in law, Pat Miller, of Marietta, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step mother, Gertrude Kern. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Virgil Reischman as celebrant. Visitation will be at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
