Charles Marion Paugh, Sr.

Charles Marion Paugh, Sr., 60, of 112 Rauch Drive, Marietta, Ohio, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at his home, with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 29, 1948 in Weston, WV to Charles Eugene and Sarah Catherine Matthews Paugh. He was a graduate of West Virginia Tech in Montgomery, WV. Charlie had been employed by Marietta Concrete and later had been owner/operator of Pioneer Masonry in Marietta and Pioneer Supply in Parkersburg, WV. He was an active member of the Reno Memorial Christian Church. He had been very active in the Jaycee organization in Marietta and statewide. He was very instrumental in the construction of Jaycee Estates. He had served and was currently serving on various civic boards including Washington County Career Center, Marietta Memorial Hospital and Harmar Place, American Cancer Society, Washington County and Mid-Ohio Valley Homebuilders associations, Marietta High School Athletic Boosters, had served as president many times of the Marion and Washington schools PTO, had volunteered at the YMCA, Marietta Bantam League, and Becky Thatcher board of directors. Through his business contacts Charlie had given to many area projects, including the Incredible Community Playground, Don Schaly Stadium, and the Marietta High School softball fields. Charlie is survived by his wife, Barbara Shirley Gum Paugh; his daughter, Sarah Louise Weaver (Jody) of Flemington, WV; his son, Charles Marion Paugh, Jr. (Julia) of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Gage Paugh and Bailey Weaver; a brother, Joseph Paugh (Judy) and a sister, Cathy Fisher (Mike), all of Weston, WV; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and an aunt, Betty Paugh of Jane Lew, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Chris Paugh. His funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009, at the Reno Memorial Christian Church with Roy Vanscoy officiating. Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and also at the church on Monday for one hour prior to his service. His burial will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at the Snyder Cemetery in Churchville, WV. Donations may be made Reno Memorial Christian Church, P.O.
