Clara I. Kitts, 87, Lowell, died Wednesday evening, December 17, 2014 at Heartland of Marietta. Born August 14, 1927 in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Harold D. and Ina I. Gibbeaut Knox.
She had been an office manager for Valentine Oil Company for 30 years and later served as clerk for the Village of Lowell for ten years. Clara was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church, Pythian Sisters, and had been an active member of the L-A Fire and Rescue and the Washington County EMS as an Advanced EMT.
Survivors include seven children, Candace Ross (Everett) of Belpre, Crystal Barth (Gary) and Carla Ball (Andy) of Waterford, Curt Smith (Vicki) and Craig Kitts (Lynn Colyer) of Marietta, Cam Kitts (Missy) of Hazel Green, AL, and Corby Kitts (Brenda) of Lowell. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Clara was first married to Max D. Smith and later to Robert I. Kitts, who both have preceded her in death, along with two brothers, Bud and Carroll Knox.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 20, at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Pastor Don Hart officiating. Burial will be in Murdoch Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8, with Pythian Sisters services at 7:00. Contributions in Clara's memory may be directed to the L-A Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 406, Lowell, OH 45744.
