Clayton G. Lutz

July 22, 1942 — June 8, 2010

Clayton G. "Clay" Lutz, Jr., passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born in Belington, WV on July 22, 1942, a son of the late Clayton G. and Velma Casto Lutz. On September 3, 1967, he was married to Shirley Kemp, who survives. He is also survived by one son, Scott (Mindi Ford), and three grandchildren, Scott Michael and Kaitlyn Paige Dye and Colt William Lutz. He was employed by Quaker State Refinery, the City of Williamstown, and retired from WV Rural Water Association. After retirement, he continued to teach for ETC, RESA V and LTAP. He was an Army veteran and member of American Legion Post #64, where he served on the Honor Guard. He also was a member of the Williamstown Lions Club, St. Marys I.O.O.F. Lodge, Rebekahs, and the Williamstown United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee. He was a past member of the Belington Fire Dept and Williamstown Fire Dept., and was involved in the start up, and building of the Williamstown Ambulance Service. In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by several aunts and cousins, three half sisters including Sue Lutz of Reno, NV, brothers in law and sisters in laws, Ronald (Vivian) Kemp, Larry (Judy) Kemp, David L. McKenna, Jack (Betty) Kemp, as well as nephews and nieces, Darcy (Greg) Dickson, Patrick (Kelly) McKenna, Kevin (Robyn) Kemp, and Tiffany (Larry) Stump. He will also be missed by his special grandcats, Smith and Wesson. He was a special husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone he met. The family wishes to give a special thanks to his doctors, Cawley, Hamirani, Mayo, and Leopold and their staffs. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with The Rev. Dr. Arthur Tucker officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park, with full military honors. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
