Daniel Ray Batten

Daniel Ray Batten, 58, of Goose Run Road, Marietta, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at his home. He was born January 3, 1951 in Marietta to Marcel Lee and Ruth Lucille Barth Batten. He was a graduate of Marietta High School and a U.S. Army veteran, serving from September, 1970 to August, 1973; he had been stationed in Italy. He worked at Forma Scientific for many years, then was employed by Crescent Sprague, and more recently at Vadakin. Daniel was a member of Moose Lodge 1823 in Marietta. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 64 in Marietta, where he enjoyed spending time with his many "friends". He enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing poker. Daniel is survived by a daughter, Shelley Renee Batten of Waterford, a son, Chace Daniel Batten of Beverly, and a brother, David L. Batten (Brenda), of Marietta. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Pastor James Fernihough officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell. Donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, P.O.
