Daniel Wade Hill

Daniel Wade Hill, 76, of Marietta, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 1, 1937 in Nelsonville, Ohio, to the late Alonzo and Edith Pryor Hill. Dan retired from Cytec, formerly American Cyanamid, where he was a loyal employee for 46 years. He enjoyed volunteer work with the Marietta Police Department as an Auxiliary Officer, from June of 1986 until June of 1994. Dan volunteered in recent years with the fair board, and worked as a driver for the O'Neill Senior Center and then Community Action. Dan also enjoyed the outdoors, camping, boating, his vehicles, guns, and motorcycles, especially when he was with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and their pet cat, Baby Bop. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Guckert Hill; his son, Douglas Hill (Sandy) of Parkersburg, WV; his daughter, Cathy Hill of Bridgeport, WV; two grandsons, Daniel and Mark Lavezza of Bridgeport; brother, David Hill (Sunny) of Waterford; sister, Carolyn Hoffman (Bill) of Athens; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline Faye Hill and brother, Larry Hill. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with his brother-in-law, The Reverend Paul Guckert officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
