Darrill D. Holland, 75, of Marietta, died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born November 22, 1934 in Marietta to Forrest C. and Sarah Weaver Holland. He was a graduate of Marietta High School. He had worked at Forma Scientific for 37 years, retiring January 31, 1998. Darrill was a charter member of Twin Rivers Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, antique and classic cars, and time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Kapple Holland, they were married September 21, 1958; two sons, James D. Holland of Delaware, Ohio and Jeffrey S. Holland (Yvonne) of Marietta; five grandchildren, James (Lauren),Bethany, Heather, Aaron, and Jordan Holland; a step grandson, Shane O'Connor (Alisha); three step great grandchildren, Janessa Myers, Kasia and Easton O'Connor, and a sister, Mildred Richards of Canton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Erma King and three brothers, Hubert, Russell and Murrill Holland. Funeral services will be held at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Baumer officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 1150 17th.
