Dennis Lowell Rapp, 60, of Masonic Park Road, Marietta, died Monday, December 13, 2010 at his residence. He was born on January 5, 1950 in Athens, Ohio to J. Lowell and Hilda L. "Ding" Rowe Rapp. Denny graduated from Athens High School in 1968, where he played baseball and basketball. He then enlisted in the Army, and served during Vietnam, where he was part of the 191 Bounty Hunters. While serving our country, he played baseball for the Army and he was awarded many medals of honor, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart. Denny owned and operated the Rapp Wallpaper and Paint Store for many years, a business well known in the Athens area for over 60 years. More recently, he was a bus driver for WASCO and Ewing School. Denny loved sports, and coached baseball for many years for the American Legion in Athens, and he enjoyed farming, gardening and his animals. He is survived by his wife, Kelly M. Lincoln, whom he married on December 22, 2007; two daughters, Allison and Melissa Rapp, both of Athens, and their mother, Teresa Rapp of The Plains; his sister, Delia Rapp of Athens; nephew and niece, Linzie McDargh of Athens and Chugi Fisher Moore of Clarksville, TN; his father and mother-in-law, David and Barbara Lincoln of Columbus; his sister-in-law, Julie Lincoln Keller and her three daughters; two great nephews and one great niece, many great friends and his whole "farm family". He was preceded in death by his parents. Abiding with Denny's wishes, he has been cremated, and there will be a gathering of friends and family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the O.U. Inn, 331 Richland Ave., Athens, Ohio 45701. A gathering in Marietta will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Denny's name to WASCO, Inc., 380 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, Ohio 45750 or to Ewing School, 1701 Colegate Drive, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
