Don Paul Meister

August 31, 1924 — April 1, 2009

Don Paul Meister, 84, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, born in Marietta, Ohio on August 31, 1924 to Harry and Alice Meister. Don graduated from Marietta High School in 1942, and attended Marietta College. In 1943 he joined the Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1946. Don started his own business and owned Meister Oil Company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #309, Shrine Club and Royal Order of Jesters. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis, and twin sister Ann Smith. He is survived by his daughters; Rebecca Cortino (Robert) of Hickory, NC, Stephanie Place (Kevin) of Melbourne, FL, grandchildren; Julian and Ariana Place, Sam and B.J. Cortino, step-daughters; Stephanie, of Phoenix, AZ and Carrie of Dallas, TX, also niece; Jill (Jack) MacRae of Marietta, OH. A visitation will be held at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home from 10-11 a.m. on May 30, 2009, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. The family requests that donations be made to either The Shiners' Crippled Children Fund or The Alzheimers Society.
