Donald George Schaad

Donald George Schaad, 80, of Burnett Road, Cutler, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at his home. He was born July 18, 1928 in Stockport to John and Philomenia Strahler Schaad. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1983 and was a farmer who enjoyed working the land, especially with his draft horses. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He was past president of the Washington County NFO and past vice president of the AFLCIO Chemical Workers Union Local 343C. He was one of the founders of the Pioneer City Rider's Club in Marietta, and enjoyed rodeos, especially calf roping. Donald was the South Eastern Ohio Contest Association Champion Tie Down Roper. Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara Bartlett Schaad, they were married on September 20, 1949; ten sons, David (June) of Belpre, Michael (Carol) of Brookville, Gregory (Wanda) of Cutler, Thomas (Belinda) of Waterford, Jeffrey (Marsha) of Marietta, Timothy (Deneen) of Williamstown, WV, Matthew (Trisha) of Lowell, Kenneth (Greta) of Washington, WV, Eric of Cutler and Aaron (Natalie) of Cumberland; six daughters, Susan Perry (Carl) of Vincent, Jane Gillespie (Carter) of Vincent, Rose Lindeburg (John) of Pearisburg, VA, Marina Waldeck (Ralph) of Belpre, Karen Taylor (Bill) of Canal Winchester and Kimberly Rafeld (Greg) of Butler, 49 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, two brothers, Earl (Dorothy) of Waterford and John of Stockport, and a sister, Eloise Delaney of Marietta. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian and three sisters, Mary Margaret Schlicher, Sister Joseph Aloysius and Mildred Offenberger. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2009, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Porterfield, Ohio, with the Rev. Robert Gallagher as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Little Hocking, with full military rites. Friends may call at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 4 p.m. and at 8 p.m. Donations may be made to Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, P.O.
