Donald M. Stengel, 77, of Lowell, died Monday, November 1, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born January 21, 1933 in Adams Township to Michael and Nellie Morgenstern Stengel. He was a 1951 graduate of Lowell High School and was a graduate of Mountain State Business College. Don retired from J.A. Schwendeman & Sons following 42 ½ years as their clerk and bookkeeper. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church and the Waterford Grange #231. He loved watching baseball and basketball, was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, and had coached Little League baseball. He is survived by his wife, Virginia L. Sparks Stengel, whom he married on May 7, 1960; also by his son, Michael H. Stengel (Sherry) of Lowell, daughter, Patricia A. Wagner (Daryl) of Hudson and grandchildren, Lynette Nicole and Chad Michael Stengel and Sophia Elizabeth, Seth Andrew and Samuel Jacob Wagner. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Pastors Don Hart and Gale Lauderman officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the L-A Fire & Rescue Squad.
