Dorothy Irene Kinzel Hinton, 89, of Marietta, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 7, 1930 in Salem, WV, to Jacob and Elizabeth O. Oldham Kinzel.
Dorothy was a graduate of Ravenswood High School and attended Mountain State College. She was one of the first employees of Public Debt, worked for 1st Colony and many years at Silverheels, Inc. Dorothy retired twice, the last time at age 83. She was an accomplished seamstress, gardener and loved to read. Her work ethic was superior, she took great pride in all she did.
She is survived by five children, William "Mike" Gibbs (Marilyn) of Vienna, WV, Connie Burge Blitzlau (Alan) of NC, Penny Burge Ward (Robert Ward) of Marietta, Mark Williams (Jennifer) of CA, and Victoria Williams Brown (Jay) of Marietta; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Burge; brother, Robert Kinzel; sister, Barbara Nicholas; and husbands, Bill Burge and Bob Hinton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown, WV. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
