Edwina M. Franklin, 74, of Marietta, died Friday, July 2, 2010, at Marietta Center. She was born July 8, 1935 in New Orleans, LA to Alfred and Mayola James Mimmitt. Edwina had been a hairdresser and housekeeper, and more recently a cook for Community Action. She was a member of the Marietta Wesleyan Church. She is survived by a daughter, Sheryl F. Taylor (Michael) of Marietta, five sons, Charles Franklin (Savannah) of Gretna, LA, Bobbie Franklin of Columbus, OH, Joseph E. Franklin of Kenner, LA, Thaddeus and Shun Franklin, both of LaPlace, LA, a daughter-in-law, Bridgette Alexander of Marietta, 40 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Clarence White, and a daughter, Sandra Franklin. Local services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Zimmerman and the Rev. Russell Wooten officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. up until time of the service. There will also be services in New Orleans, LA in the Chapel of Roses at Charbonnett-Labat-Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 Saint Philip St., New Orleans, LA. Visitation there will be from 9:00a.m. until time of service. Her entombment will be in Providence Cemetery in Kenner, LA.
