Eileen F. Potter Engle, 86, of Lowell, died Monday, September 12, 2011, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 19, 1925 at her home in Parkersburg to Charles Edward and Gwendolyn Clair Dennison Potter. Eileen attended St. Margaret Mary's and De Sales Height Schools in Parkersburg. She had worked for Hill Top Confectionery, U.S. Navy Department in Washington D.C. during WWII, and was a typist for Bergen Brother Plumbing many years ago, and was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Lowell. Eileen married William Phillip Engle, Jr. on September 23, 1948 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marietta. She is survived by her husband; six children, Christopher Engle (Jill) of Mainesville, OH, Patrick Engle (Sharon) of Fleming, Marie Miller (Paul) of New Concord, Julia Engle of the home, Angela Keiser (Steve) of Vienna, and Kathleen Hall (Chris) of Reno; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa Morris of Columbia, SC, and Patsy Morris of Marietta; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Peggy Fitzgerald and Joan Vannoy; and two brothers, Tony and Donald Potter. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Lowell, with The Rev. Timothy Huffman celebrating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church or to the L-A Fire and Rescue Squad.
