Elizabeth J. Greenlees

On April 16, 2024 at 7:33 p.m., Elizabeth (Elspeth) Greenlees, 87, of Fleming, Ohio, was reunited with loved ones that had gone before her.

She was an immigrant, a true daughter of Scotland, born in county Renfrewshire, Greenock, Scotland on October 5, 1936. She was a graduate of Greenock Academy. After immigrating to America with her family in May of 1952 and settling in Columbus, Ohio, she continued her education.

On October 27, 1956, Elspeth married Donald Gordon Greenlees of Fleming, Ohio. She worked as a bookkeeper for Interlake Steel until the birth of Margo Jeanette in 1958. Don and Elspeth raised three kids on the Greenlees family farm in Fleming, Ohio. She worked at Woolworth’s for a short period until its closure.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Willie) Holbert, son, John (Pam) Greenlees, son in law, Ronald Pettengil, six grandchildren, Kyle (Angela) Holbert, Lacey (Jered) Mitchem, Kelsi (Brandon) Ullom, Christina (Tony) Bowen, David (Lindsey) Pettingill, Daniel (Kate) Pettengill, 12 great grandchildren, one brother, Lawerence (Gloria) Rennie, one sister, Christine Woodson, one sister in law, Linda Greenlees and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Margo Pettengill, husband, Donald Greenlees and sister, Margo Guzzo.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the BARLOW CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME, with her son, John Greenlees officiating. Private burial will take place in Barlow Central Cemetery. Family will greet friends for two hours prior to the services on Sunday.
