Emmett Sterling Tebay, 81, of Punta Gorda, FL, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015, in Port Charlotte, FL. He was born June 3, 1933 in Lubeck, WV to Harry and Roxie Hazel Brown Tebay. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Korea, serving from February 11, 1952 to December 29, 1955. Sterling was in the PhD program at George Washington University. He completed his Masters in Computer Science at George Washington, as well as a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the Ohio State University. He had worked as a research and development scientist in engineering and computer sciences. He was involved in the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Sterling is survived by his wife, June L. Immel Tebay of Punta Gorda, son and daughter in law, Todd and Tracy Tebay of Chadds Ford, PA, granddaughter, Alexandra Tebay of Chadds Ford, brother, Bob (Lola) Tebay of Marietta and sister, Jeanne (John) Biedenbach of Trenton, MI. He was preceded in death by children, Mark and Wendy Tebay, brothers, William and Samuel, and sister, Charlene Hughes. Cremation, per his wishes, will take place in Florida, and his ashes will be buried in Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown, WV. Memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015, Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Elizabeth Campbell-Maleke officiating. Family to greet at a reception at the funeral home, immediately following the service.
