Esther M. Gesterling, 81, formerly a Beverly resident, died Friday, June 28, 2013, in Port Charlotte, Florida, after suffering a massive stroke. She was born January 21, 1932 in Morgan County, Ohio to Dale and Dorothy Rex Gilliland. She was a 1950 graduate of Manchester High School and in 1987 graduated from Mountain State College. Esther retired from Kardex Systems in Marietta in 1991 and after moving to Florida, worked as a travel and rental agent. She had been a member of the Beverly Methodist Church and was a 60 plus year member of OES Chapter, Valley #19 in McConnelsville. Esther is survived by her husband, Norman Gesterling, sons, Bradley Hoover and Marvin "Butch" Hoover, both of Beverly, daughter, Beth Goldhardt of Westerville, OH, stepson, Eric Gesterling (Monica) of Tampa, FL, 11 grandchildren, Grant (Kelly) Goldhardt, Shawn (Lisa) Cline, Bryan King, Troy (Seneca) Wolfe, Kelly Hill, Corey Hoover, Casee (John) Holloway, Chad Crumbaker, Audrey Gesterling, Maggie Hoover, Abby Hoover, 13 great grandchildren, a sister, Ruth Miller of Newark and a brother, David Gilliland (Shirley) of Waterford. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Richard Hoover, and her second husband, Ambrose Cahill, son-in-law Ron Goldhardt, a sister, Joan Eickel and grandchildren, Crystal Hoover and Brian Goldhardt. Funeral services will be held at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 3, 2013, with The Rev. Don Archer officiating. The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery in Marietta.
