Evelyn Mildred Neill

Evelyn “Otsie” (Lang) Neill of Waterford, Ohio died on March 26th, only days before her 92nd birthday (March 30th).

Otsie was the beautiful wife of the late Harold “Jim” Neill.  Jim was the love of her life for 72 years and she is happily dancing in Heaven as we all celebrate her beautiful life. Her greatest pride were her 10 children: Steve (Freda), Phil (Sheri), Tom (Cheryl), Brian (Peggy), Colleen Hill (Bob), Teresa Neill-Green (Dan), Scott (Patty), Wesley (Kim), Eva Harrison (Scot), and Felicite Pellior (Josh).  Grandma Otsie loved and cherished her 21 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Evelyn loved cooking, playing cards, joking and spending time with family and friends. She found joy in volunteering for community organizations as well.   Evelyn met no stranger; she was often described as a “2nd Mom” to so many.  Her smile and energy were contagious!

Evelyn was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Lang of Waterford, OH. Her siblings: Jim, Deb, Hud, Vinnie, Bob, Bernie, Walter, Junior, Gerald, Glen, Alice, Grace, Shirley and only living brother, Jack.

There is an Irish proverb, “Without sorrow the heart would never learn the meaning of joy, without tears, our eyes would never see what we hold inside, without darkness we would never have no reason to look to the light of Heaven.” Otsie, you will be greatly missed by family and friends, “Rest in Peace.”

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 30th at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, 11 White Oak Woods, Barlow, from 2pm to 8pm with a Vigil service held at 4pm.  Funeral Liturgy with Mass will take place at St. John’s Catholic Church, 17784 St. Route 676, Marietta, OH, on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 10:00  am, with burial following in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s  Catholic School.
