Everett Monroe Ross, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the age of 87. Everett was a cherished resident of Belpre, Ohio, and was born on January 14, 1937, in New Milton, West Virginia to Howard Everett Monroe and Blanche Octavia (Putman) Ross.
Everett led a life rich in experiences and accomplishments. He proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the 107th Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1963. Following his military service, Everett embarked on a rewarding career in the oil industry, working his way up to Oil Field Production Manager as well as an owner/ operator. Later in life, he dedicated six years to the Village of Lowell as the Street and Park Superintendent, before retiring to enjoy a simpler life delivering flowers for Sandy's Florist and Obermeyer's Florist.
He was involved with American Legion Post 15 in Parkersburg, WV. He was an avid hunter, known for his love of deer and squirrel hunting, and a passionate West Virginia University sports fan. Above all, Everett was devoted to his family, finding great joy as an attentive grandparent and great-grandparent, frequently attending and supporting his grandchildren in their numerous games and events.
Everett is survived by his beloved wife, Ina Candace Ross of Belpre, Ohio; his two children, Robert H. Ross and Crystal R. Ross; and his three stepchildren, Garry C. Ledford, Shana D. Barker, and Niki A. Ledford. His legacy continues through his 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Everett also leaves behind his two loving sisters, Barbara A. Smith of Columbus, Ohio and Ramona P. Granger of Piedmont, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his six brothers, Howard E. (infant), Robert B., Franklin T., E. Darrell, C. Poole, and William A., and his four sisters, Sarah Leggett, Margaret Bryant, Rosalee Dodgens, and Mary C. Bee.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, October 18 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home in Marietta, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the same location, officiated by Pastor Brian Leversee. A graveside service will take place at Murdock Cemetery in Palmer Township following the funeral service..
