Felicia Marie Buell, 62, passed on to whatever the next stage of life is on October 28 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a graduate of Marietta High School, Butler University and Indiana University where she received a Master's Degree in Classical Ballet. She taught ballet in Montana and St. Louis before beginning a career as a travel consultant for TWA, Maritz and then her own company, Buell Travel. Later she became a licensed massage therapist as well.
She was good at whatever she did. She loved gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She was also active with the MOV Dragon Boat Team, serving as sunshine secretary at the time of her death. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her parents, Dr. Arthur L. and Betty Kee Buell; her brother, Michael Buell (Rosanne) all of Marietta; her niece, Jennifer Knatt (Kevin) of St. Louis; her nephews Derek Buell (Brittany) of Los Angeles, and Aaron Buell of Kent; and her cat and constant companion, Valentine. She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Eric Buell.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kelli Cawley and her staff, Brenda Miscovich and Hospice, all of whom showed care and compassion well beyond what may have been required by their professions; and to her friends Joy, Bonnie, Janet, Theresa, Jon and Cheryl who define "friendship." We would also like to thank Group 287 in St. Louis, the Sunday Night Variety Group of Marietta and District 15 members for their support the last 28 years.
A Celebration of her life will be held December 26 at a location to be determined. In lieu of flowers you may make a memorial contribution to either The Felicia M. Buell Thriver Fund of the MOV Dragon Boat Team, administered through the Marietta Community Foundation or The Strecker Cancer Center at Marietta Memorial Hospital. In addition, please do something each day to relieve the burden of someone around you.
