G. Lucille Foreshee

October 30, 1930 — December 7, 2024

G. Lucille (Hooper) Foreshee, 94, of Rogersville, Missouri passed away at 8:03 pm on December 7, 2024 in Springfield, Missouri.  She was born October 30, 1930 in New Liberty, Missouri, the youngest daughter of Edgar and Ella (Reed) Hooper. Also known as Lu or Lucy by friends & family.

She married her high school sweetheart, William Roy Foreshee on September 10, 1948 in Piggot, Arkansas.  Roy preceded her in death on September 28, 2016.  Lucille & Roy were married for 68 years.

Lucille was a full-time wife and mother, always devoted to caring for her family. She was an excellent seamstress, making her daughters’ wedding dresses & other outfits, Roy’s suits & shirts, and many of her own outfits through the years.  She and Roy loved to bowl in league or not, and she became the City Bowling Champion in Paducah, KY in the late 1950's. Lucille loved to do crafts... everything from knitting, crocheting, crewel, and Swedish weaving to glass etching, Diamond Dotz painting, and many others.  As a very active member of the Girl Scout Council in Marietta, OH for over 30 years, she was known as the “Crafty Lady” and was the person to go to for all kinds of craft ideas for the Girl Scouts to do. While her daughters were in scouts, she was the leader of several Brownie & Girl Scout troops.  She loved taking pictures of the scouts and their activities and was the official photographer for the Girl Scout Council for the Marietta area. She loved photography so much she learned how to develop her own film into pictures.  She seemed to always have a camera in hand to take pictures of her family and their adventures.  Lucille was also an avid reader and had many favorite authors, most of them mystery writers, and had acquired a huge library over the years. She loved watching hummingbirds & had collected quite a variety of hummingbird items given to her by family and friends.  Lucille was a member of the North Parkersburg Baptist Church in Parkersburg, WVA and attended Second Baptist Church in Springfield, MO while living with her oldest daughter.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lucille was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Hooper and Dwain Hooper, and two sisters, Mildred Shuffit and Pauline Pence.

She is survived by one brother, Dean Hooper of Centraila, IL; four daughters and sons-in-law: Janice and Daniel Rymer of Rogersville, MO, Peggy Heiney of Humble, TX, Lois and Ray Neville of Marietta, OH, and Juli and Tom Bainbridge of Jamestown, OH; eight grandchildren: Matt Heiney, Lou Heiney, Heather Rymer Thompson (Troy), William “Scott” Rymer (Hari), Joshua Archer, Jacob Archer, John Archer, & Benjamin Wacksman; three great-grandsons: Ryan Thompson, Alex Thompson, & Elijah Bainbridge-Blant; and many family & friends.

In celebration of her life, there will be a visitation at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME, 408 Front Street, Marietta, Ohio on Monday, December 16th, 2024 from 5-7 pm.  Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, December 17th at 1 pm with Pastor Mike Towner officiating.  Private interment with family to follow at East Lawn Memorial Park in Marietta, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Turning Point Ministries, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Marietta Girl Scouts, the local Food Bank in Marietta, or may be accepted at the funeral home.
