Gale Adam Knoch
Gale Adam Knoch, 90, Muskingum River Road, Lowell, died 6:30 PM Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at his home. Born May 28, 1919, in Adams Township, he was the son of the late Edward and Loretta Ridgeway Knoch. Following his service with the U. S. Army in World War II, Gale returned to the Lowell area, where he farmed for the past 63 years, along with his wife and children. He was a founding member of the American Legion Post 750, in Lowell. He is survived by two daughters, Fay Heiss (Donivan) and Carol Huck (Calvin), all of Waterford; three sons, Douglas Knoch (Mary Ann), of Hartville, OH, and Ronald Knoch (Helen) and Martin Knoch (Pauline), all of Lowell. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and a sister, Carol Wagner, of Lowell. Gale was preceded in death by his wife, Gene Eloise McCathern Knoch, on April 12, 2009. They were married April 4, 1942. Also preceding him in death were a granddaughter, Mindy Heiss, and a sister, Laverne Close. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Greenlawn Cemetery, in Lowell. Pastor Stan Wells will officiate; with full military rites observed by Gale's comrades from American Legion Post 750. No visitation will be held.
