Gene Eloise Knoch

Gene Eloise Knoch, 87, Muskingum River Road, Lowell, died Sunday evening, April 12, 2009, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Born November 26, 1921, in Noble County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Marvel Haga McCathern. She was a graduate of Lowell High School. Gene was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Post #750, and Temple #230 Pythian Sisters, both of Lowell. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and gardening. On April 4, 1942, she married Gale Adam Knoch. She and her husband have lived on and operated the family farm ever since. Surviving with her husband, Gale, are two daughters, Fay Heiss (Donivan) and Carol Huck (Calvin), all of Waterford; three sons, Douglas Knoch (Mary Ann), of Hartville, and Ronald (Helen) and Martin (Pauline) Knoch, all of Lowell. Twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson also survive, along with a sister-in-law, Carol Wagner, of Lowell. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Mindy Heiss; a brother, Lewis McCathern; a sister, Clair McCathern, and a sister-in-law, Lavern Close. The family will greet friends at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14th, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The Pythian Sisters will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 PM. The family will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday for a private funeral service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Lowell. It is suggested that memorials may be directed to the L-A Fire and Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 406, Lowell, OH 45744, or to a charity of choice.
