George Rodosbaldo Gandor

George Rodosbaldo Gandor, 72, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born October 21, 1938 in Cuba. He came to Marietta with his family at age 14. George graduated from Marietta High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Ohio University. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Betty Young. He was an entrepreneur and owned many business operations including a laundromat on Warren Street, he owned and developed the old Tremont Hospital on Montgomery Street into apartments, he owned the Evergreen Motel and Truck Stop on St. Rt. 7, a car detailing business in Devola, and with his wife, Judd's Tavern on Front Street in the 1990s. He was a great chef and was known for Judd's Thursday night special of prime rib. He and his wife own Jackson Lake Campground and Park in Canal Winchester, Ohio which he operated in the summer season before returning to their home in Houston, Texas each fall.In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his mother, Maria Gandor Solomon of Tucson, AZ, two sons, Keith Gandor of Columbus and Craig Gandor, his stepdaughter Shoshanna Brooker her husband Jeff, and his granddaughter Lakyn who he adored, all of Marietta, his brother Leo Gandor and his wife, Dawn, of Marietta and sister Maria Hickman and her husband, Don, of Tucson, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Hasel Gandor. Visitation will be at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, October 14, 2011, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Warren Chapel Cemetery. Dr. Richard Jolliff will officiate.
