George Aaron Hendershot

George Aaron Hendershot, 90, of Fleming, OH, died Saturday morning, April 23, 2022 in Marietta, OH. Born March 30, 1932 at Belpre, he was a son of the late Willie and Bertha Heintz Hendershot.

George was a graduate of Marietta High School and Marietta College. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1954. George retired from Lucent Technologies and had been owner of Hendershot Communications. He was a member of the Columbus area Mensa Society. George also was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption.

He is survived by his four daughters, Madonna Deann Gibbs (Krist) of Dublin, OH, Theresa Hendershot, of Fleming, Elizabeth Zwick (Robert) of Lower Salem and Suzanne Hendershot of Belpre; three grandchildren, Joshua, Lauren and Ethan Zwick.

George married Tarcella Clara Miller on June 7, 1958. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2017. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Robert, John and Walter Hendershot, and by three sisters, Pauline Shawver, Marie Turner and Ruth Watson.

George’s family will greet friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 8:00pm. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be 10:00am Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with The Rev. Monsignor John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, with Full Military Honors observed.
